This page is part of 'The M Files', an exciting new resource from Sparky Teaching for getting the best from your class in Maths.

Life's not fair. Good! Nor are our Maths tests.

Despite the rumours, at the Ministry of Maths, we care. We care about ourselves. And we care about teaching your pupils the important lesson that life's not all cherry pie.

So, who are we? We're the unnamed, unthanked individuals who write trick questions for Maths tests. Some say we're cunning, wily and devious. We say we're simply teaching your pupils to get used to failure. In fact, if we can't catch children out in our Maths tests, we haven't done our job properly.

We believe that, like angry bears and French cheese, Maths tests should be approached with extreme caution. Especially our tests - they're liable to bite back.

Our Ministry of Maths watchwords motivate everything we do - "Success is not an option".
